Kasper Dolberg wants to remain at Ajax

Manchester United may have received a huge blow in their quest to sign Kasper Dolberg after his agent suggested that the striker will stay put at Ajax for at least another season.

The Danish forward had captured the attention of Europe’s elite following a top season in the Eredivisie where he bagged 23 goals across all competitions.

Dolberg, 19, guided the Amsterdam giants to within reach of the league title owing to fall a point short of surprise champions Feyenoord. Meanwhile, the striker also proved key towards their European progress, and they eventually lost in the Europa League final to Manchester United by a 2-0 scoreline. Apart from United, Dolberg has also attracted interest from the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Everton in recent weeks, but his representative appears to have cooled the transfer talk by citing his client’s desire to remain at Ajax.

“Nothing is concrete yet. He is currently preparing for the [Denmark] games against Germany and Kazakhstan,” Steffensen told FussballTransfers.“No club has submitted an offer to Ajax. I can tell you one thing – all the top European clubs have asked about him. But we haven’t seen any concrete or written offers yet. His goal is to stay at Ajax for another year.”

Peter Bosz has made a tremendous effort to bring up a young squad capable of challenging in both the domestic and European competitions, and his next step would be to keep the group together in order to provide a strong challenge for the Eredivisie crown. Ajax will be plying their trade in the third qualifying round of the Champions League, and progress into the group stages and further would be a sign of progress for the youthful Ajax squad. Dolberg still has four years left on his current Ajax deal, and he could as well wait for the right time before switching to one of Europe’s premier clubs.
